OSTrails Public Webinar #1: Introducing OSTrails: Your Companion to Streamline Planning, Tracking, and Assessing Research Practices

10.04.2025

We invite you to the first public webinar of the OSTrails project, an introductory session aimed at informing the broader research community about the project’s objectives, early results, and how to get involved in shaping its foundational Plan-Track-Assess (PTA) Framework.

The OSTrails project addresses major challenges in research, such as limited interoperability across research stages, fragmented RDM practices, and varying levels of Open Science maturity across countries and domains. To tackle these, OSTrails is developing a set of open, reusable, and adaptable resources that facilitate seamless information exchange between Data Management Planning (DMP) Platforms, Scientific Knowledge Graphs (SKGs), and FAIR Assessment Tools. This empowers research communities to more effectively manage, share, and evaluate their outputs.

What to expect:

  • Project Overview & PTA Framework
How the PTA Framework enables interoperability, connectivity, and machine-actionability across tools and services
    Elli Papadopoulou (ARC)
  • Pilot Use Cases: Showcasing 2 of the 24 OSTrails Pilot Initiatives
    • Dutch National Pilot
How dynamic, workflow-integrated DMPs support collaboration and knowledge sharing across institutions
Andrew Hoffman (CWTC at Leiden University) & Eileen Waegemaekers (SURF)
    • Thematic Pilot: Photon and Neutron Science (PaNOSC)
Using DMPs, SKGs, and FAIR assessment to evaluate datasets at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility
      Renaud Duyme (ESRF))
  • Launch of the OSTrails Mentorship Programme
An opportunity for IT infrastructure managers, research support staff, and funders’ support officers to advance their skills in DMPs, SKGs, and FAIR assessment through personalised guidance from consortium experts
    Pedro Principe (UMinho)
