3GP
The primary reason for the development of 3gp was the limited Internet speed of mobile devices. The design goal of 3gp was to make video files available for mobile use.
The 3GP format is based on the MP4 format.
The two most common file extensions of the 3GP format are .3gp and .3ge. Where .3gp is used with GSM devices and .3g2 is used with CDMA based devices.
3gp is becoming less and less important due to the increased performance of modern mobile networks.
